Perfect Venue- CV Rich Mansion in White Plains New York

Our professional wedding photos came in the mail and I am ecstatic. With a few of them I was able to create our thank you cards and finally send them out.
Looking through the photos I am so happy how everything came out even though it was crazy planning it all.

Some things I learned along the way...
1. Do your research, on everything.
2. Look for alternatives- cheaper can sometimes be better
3. Enjoy the ride.

I tried to take moments throughout the planning to enjoy it all because every moment goes by so fast and sometimes the aggravation isn't even worth it in the end.

Always research everything! In doing so I found cheaper flowers, wedding arches and even table centerpieces.

I will start with my wedding venue. We got married at CV Rich Mansion in White Plains, NY and we found it by chance.

CV Rich Mansion at White Plains, NY

We originally made an appointment to see another place not too far away from CV mansion. It was very pretty but ultimately we decided against it since the area where we will have our ceremony was too close to the main road (too noisy). We had the day to kill afterwards and I googled searched nearby wedding venues and found our future venue only a few minutes drive away.
When we pulled up I used to secure a last minute appointment for that same day and got one immediately. When we saw the place we thought it would be out of our price range since it was gorgeous. Joann greeted us and gave us a tour and showed us the packages and found they were offering so much more (wedding cake, full bar, wonderful cocktail hour) for a little less per person than other places nearby.

To top it off the place looked vintage with beautiful gardens in the back to have our ceremony. This place had a huge yard for the ceremony and ballroom for the reception.

We fell in love with the look and architecture right away and once we secured the place everything fell into place.
Inside the mansion had numerous rooms for people to walk around for cocktail hour and photo ops. It had to garden porches with access to outside where the bar was set up and tables as well. Waiters walked around serving food and champagne during this time while the hubby and I took pictures before the reception.

They do many types of parties and such here. And now my husband and I are discussing having future anniversary parties, and maybe a baby shower there.
I will post next time about decor and music and such...

With love,

2017 was a whirlwind...

Welcome 2018!

2017 came and went so fast and since my engagement in June of 2016 life became a whirlwind as I started to plan for my Summer 2017 wedding and a new teaching opportunity in the NYC schools.
Needless to say it was crazy.

However here I am on the flip side of everything with fabulous wedding, wonderful family and friends and ready to update my blog and online store.

I will be posting some of my details of DIY that I used for my August 2017 wedding that I loved for those that are looking to try something different- as well as some store updates on my scarves and jewelry.

It was a wonderful day...

I am engaged!

On a beautiful day, during golden hour, at Untermyer Gardens in Yonkers; my now fiance got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. It was surreal and beautiful and I started to cry. I mean we had talked about it for a few months before and all along he already had the ring hidden away.
On our trek down the stairs leading to the overlook of the Hudson we stopped every so often to take a few photos unaware the whole time that at the end was where he would ask.

Honestly I was just happy to be out. I fell in love with the gardens a while back on my first visit. It is always so serene and peaceful and I find it the spot where I can always get back to my center. The minutes before I was admiring this tree with its white flowers and the breeze and the sound of the birds and it seemed so perfect.

All the while he had that ring in his camera bag. Sneaky.
Afterwards we took a walk to the Temple and enjoyed the sunset before hitting Yardhouse. Our waiter at Yardhouse was wonderful and gave us champagne in glasses and cake on them as a congratulations.
Perfect day spent with the man I love. I am so lucky to have met him on that nice day in May three years ago. Sometimes things happen without you expecting it and one day which I didn't take too seriously because dating got me jaded I crossed the street and met the man who will one day be my husband.

Special thanks to:
Untermyer Gardens and the continuing effort to clean and fix the gardens. I am a forever patron!
Yardhouse- consistently delicious food and drinks and always friendly service.

Break away...

Teaching can be all consuming. You get wrapped up in school politics, classroom drama and your children and their lives and everything else fades away. In my case my personal life took a back burner.
However with Spring arriving, warmer weather starting to take over and Spring fever taking hold I feel like the back burner needs some attention.
Hence the  redesign of my online shop- and a new shipments of fabric coming in. So excited to play with the new textures and colors. Perhaps even getting my cousin to play model for my new soon to be scarves.

All the while talking about wedding details and the ring. The debate comes mostly about the ring.  Should we use the rings from my grandmother  passed down the line with such deep history or spend money and make our own history.
Hmm decisions, decisions...

Introducing new jewelry at my shop...

So it took a little fine tuning but I am finally adding some petite earring to my shop.

Take a look and let me know what you think-   Infinit + 1

Besides that I am enjoying the last few days I have of Summer. I officially start work after labor day. I am excited and a tinge nervous with dealing an older grade level on my own.  It happens every year.

And as always loving some of the new music by Lana Del Rey

Can't Wait for Fall...

Again its been quite awhile since my last update. I find it is so hard to keep so many things updating especially with work and my online store.
I got into jewelry making again and am updating my store to include some of the newest pieces.

Besides that I am transitioning into a different grade level. I loved teaching Pre -K but in teaching that grade level for about 4 years I am realizing that I went into grad school for the older grade levels for a reason. So I am now a third grade teacher and am knee deep in various third grade blogs to help with the process. Also going through my storage unit for all my older grade level material was back breaking to say the least. I am not going to lie I am a bit nervous.

California was put on hold for the time being. Although a wonderful idea the idea of leaving our friends and family to start from scratch was pretty scary. So it was left on temporary terms for now.

So for the time being I continue to work on my store, my lesson plans before the start of school and pinning on my wedding board on Pinterest but more on that later...

First Meeting

When I crossed that street I had no idea; no idea I was meeting my dear love. That I was walking towards a man that will become my other half, kiss away my tears, hold my hand, talk into the early morning with and cook breakfast together in the morning.

Life is funny like that. I had reached a point where I was okay to be alone. I was settled with myself and okay with what the future would bring.

It was after weeks of talking to each other and getting ready to meet up with him I had no expectations and it was in that moment I found him.It kind of makes everything that happened before us have more meaning.

Over a year and a half strong and I look forward to what our future brings us.
