And the hits keep on coming...

I have much to Yay! about - and once its all settled I will update.

I have continued updating my little shop on Etsy. I found another cute little shop with some vibrant and rich solid color fabric. They will make the best infinity scarves for this season.
Also since I have to look ahead I am trying to see what the trend is for Winter and figure what the best fabric would be for then. Any ideas?

Also I have been debating on taking my boyfriends advice on the pictures in my shop. He is impressed with my pictures (which is a lot coming from a photographer) but has offered to take pictures with a live model. I have been thinking that doing so will improve my shop since I have seen the other shop do so.

Here is a random but awesome pic of Robin hood and his merry men at the Renn Faire:

Thursday is going to be really important to my ever growing Etsy shop!

I received an email about a week or two ago from a woman that saw my shop and loved my infinity scarves. She told me about her blog and how she and her husband are trying to raise money to help with their adoption fees. In order to help with the cost they were asking some shops if they wanted to donate goods that they could auction off. I couldn't say no. Without hesitation I sent in some stuff that I have been working on. I hope it helps out in some way.

Auction starts on Thursday and there is so much stuff to look at and bid on. Or you can donate any amount if you just want to help out without bidding.

Pass on the information to anybody who is interested!

Then when I was checking my mail today I get more great news!
The fabric shop where I get my fabulous yards of fabric for my infinity scarves will feature my shop on their blog!

Please check it out here!

The blog offers patterns, sewing ideas and features a different shop that uses their fabric.
I love the fabric store since the material sold is so soft and wearable. They are always updating with new stuff!

So if you can check it all out!
I am super excited and I will keep you posted.

Welcome Fall!

I love Fall! I love the chilly days, apple picking, hot chocolate, and sweater weather.
Most of all I love going to the renaissance faire. It was as always a lot of fun but even more since it was my boyfriends first time going.
We went to the faire in Tuxedo Park, New York. The faire runs from early August to the end of September. Hopefully you guys come around next year it's worth the drive.

Dexter Tripp performing with fire, chainsaws, and EXPLOSIVES!

Gabriel's favorite was archery which for never trying it; he was pretty good. 7 out of 12 arrows on bullseye.

Dancing around the maypole.

My favorite part was getting my kiss at the kissing bridge at the end of the day.

Always improving...

I have been working on a new way to update and improve my packaging when it comes to scarf sales. I have been trying to streamline but at the same pretty-fy (new word) how the scarves are sent.

Here is what I came up with:

The hard part at the moment is the lack of space in my room to store my items for packing and mailing my scarves. So since I have no proper work area I work on my bed. Either taking pictures of new scarves or when I get sales using it as added workspace for putting it all together before mailing.

It's not the most ideal solution but I am working on that. My ultimate goal is to find a salary teaching job with medical benefits (You would be surprised how many private schools don't provide medical). So I can move in with my boyfriend in a two bedroom apartment. A two bedroom place would be great as the extra room can give me an awesome office/ work area for both my store, crafts and teacher stuff. And maybe he can have room for his office/ tv show work area heehee.

Hair and Make-up

In my voyage into pinterest I came across a gorgeous hairstyle similar to the style Mila Kunis had in the movie "Oz the great and powerful". Instant love and have to post!
Maybe one day...

Here is the style I fell in love with:

Oh please don't go....

I am loving Summer and it would be sad when it goes. I've been spending the last 7 weeks looking to find another teaching job in a different private school, but its so difficult to get a response. I have been sending out resumes like there is no tomorrow. I need to find a school where I can get benefits- since you know that's kind of important.
I'm looking forward to Fall, so hopefully it brings some good news.

In the meantime I look forward to apple picking, chilly night by the fire, s'mores with friends and cuddles with my boyfriend.

Keep your fingers crossed and good thoughts for me during my job search.

Pinterest is my friend~

I found this wonderful idea on making a candy cake.

Check out the pics:

I did my own version for my fathers birthday using his favorite candy whoppers. What do you think?

It came out so light and fluffy and I used store brought frosting. All chocolate with crushed whoppers in the middle layer.

One word: yum!

I can honestly say this was a pinterest win.

What about you guys, any pinterest wins? fails?

Happy Birthday Dad!

What a Summer so far...

It's been a crazy few days since my plane landed back in New York. Spending most of my July with my mom basically away from reality has put me in a state of slight anxiety now that I'm back. I have so much to get done and only 3 weeks!

I spent one with my best friend since we were 16 in my first official duty as a maid of dress shopping! It was fun. I was also formally asked right before the appointment in a cute way she found on Pinterest.

So of course I was close to tearing up. However I really had to hold the tears back when I saw her step out in her top choice dress. All of a sudden I was thinking about all the goofy times we had together growing up, the long talks about stupid boyfriends past, and the fun overnights with movies and drinks.

Her choice from David's Bridal (and affordable too)

Of course when your friend is planning a wedding you tend to think about your own. Which has happened to me. So in talking about it with my boyfriend he undoubtedly asked what my dress ideas were, (which is why he is awesome). Being able to have a conversation with a man about the future of us was like hot chocolate on a chilly Fall day.

And because I am going off on a tangent....
My advice to anyone out there that is with someone that they love but isn't getting it in return, getting hurt/ heart broken, not completely happy, or making excuses to be with that person remember this:

Last day,

Well it has been a fun 3 weeks with my mother and her friends exploring this island but sadly it is my last day.
I spent most of the trip local, visiting the towns nearby my mom. She picked to live in an area close to the main city giving her the option to enjoy many activities. San Juan was definitely the best since every day the town had something going on.

What I enjoy most about Puerto Rico since I was a child are the beaches. Every beach I have gone to has been gorgeous and well kept.  The beach was clean of garbage and the only things you find in the water are the fish, seaweed and crabs. The water is so clear and warm - I could just live there every day.

The beach in Condado, Puerto Rico:
Such peace....

The beach in Carolina, Puerto Rico
We were attacked by jumping fish last time we visited. Never laughed so hard.

Well my plane leaves tonight back to New York and reality. I'll miss Puerto Rico- until next time.

Festival of the artisans

What I love about San Juan is the constant gamut of activities that have every weekend. This past weekend did not disappoint. Right on the field in front of El Morro ( an old Spanish fort) was large tents with dozens of tables of different artists displaying their work.

It was wonderful. There was people playing Spanish music live and seeing all aspects of my culture was great to see.  Pictures weren't allowed but I was to sneak a few of my favs.

(I pretended to be texting on my phone. I think he knew)

Puerto Rico is known for its bright colors, among other things.

All purses produced by hand, with skill from scratch.
This is what I love I was in artist heaven, literally spent a few hours here before exploring the rest of Viejo San Juan.

Rain,rain go away

I completely forgot about all the rain in Puerto Rico. You constantly have to carry an umbrella or poncho and mosquito spray (since after the rain they all come out). I figured I would use the current rainstorm to update.
I recently learned how important Friday and Saturday nights are here in Puerto Rico.
I found that the surrounding areas near Viejo San Juan come out Friday afternoon to San Juan for an evening of street food, entertainment, casinos and music. Also local artists come out to sell their wares.
I never knew this and so my mother and her friends took me out last Saturday to see first hand. Everyone goes out dressed up and everywhere you look there was something going on. I absolutely loved it.
I was only able to see just a bit before we got hit by a passing shower, so here is a quick snapshot.

Once the rain came down everyone and I mean everyone ran for cover. It was hilarious but fun to be smushed under an umbrella with the local artist you were just watching perform a minute before, having small talk.

I am hoping if the weather clears up by 6pm to try going down there again.

Always learning new things about my culture. I will keep you posted.

The vacay so far...

After getting off the plane and picking up essentials (forgot to pack deodorant) I was ready to see what the small town of Trujillo Alto has to offer.
Trujillo Alto is considered the "suburb in the city" and is in the process of adding a new hospital and parks to bring in tourists.

Each town in Puerto Rico has a plaza which is a main meeting area. Each plaza represents the town and on weekends it becomes a social meeting place with food and music. Trujillo Alto is known for the guineo, which is a type of banana similar to a plantain. So the plaza had statues repressing the guineo culture.

Sadly I can't do anything tomorrow since a tropical storm is heading my way.

More to come soon.

Mini- Vacay

I am super excited! In a few hours I will be going to Puerto Rico to see my mom! I am looking forward to spending time with her and relaxing and enjoying the scenery. I will be gone for quite a while so I have to close my shop for a bit. However, I'll keep an eye out for some unique fabric on the island.

Oh Carrie...

I always get caught up with Sex and the City whenever I channel surf.

I get wrapped up in the story of Carrie and Mr. Big but it is a bit unrealistic. At least to me. 3 years ago it would have been a different story. I would have waited for the guy to change his mind-I would have settled not getting what I wanted. But what I was willing to give up is a big part of me.

With time the pain fades and when you think that you are okay being alone someone shows up with the same ideals as you, and everything starts to make some sense.

So here is what I learned and my little bit of advice:

You have to be willing to know when to be giving and when to be selfish. If that makes sense. Relationships are an equal balance, no manipulation or mind games- a natural give and take. Where you can love and be loved. And you shouldn't have to compromise your ideals for another if they aren't willing to compromise for you.

Bug Spray and Campfire Smoke

Just returned from Lake George and what a trip. I am proud to say I kayaked for 14 miles total with some camping in between. No tech (besides camera and some good tunes) and lots of dancing and talking by the camp fire. As well as many many s'mores.

Good times...

We went to medium sized island in the lake called East Dollar, (view from my tent below)

The first order of business after docking at 7 was to build a "tarp city" set up our tables and tents and of course build a huge fire.

The island had 3 campsites which our whole group took  over when renting the island out. So as to not have to deal with other campers. The island was all ours.
East Dollar Island was wonderful with many different views. I was camped by the "lagoon" (below).

Once all the emails are set up with everyone so the picture exchange can begin I will post some more pics along with some info if anyone is interested in camping/ kayaking in Lake George, New York

I have this friend who is trying to get this story he is pretty passionate about out. The hard part is getting people to check it out.

I am going to try and do my part. Take a look:

I admire the fact that he is into photography and everything related to film.

And his pictures are pretty good, however I'll continue to avoid his camera lens.

Some updates at my store with some pretty light chiffon and jersey cotton scarves, check it out on my etsy shop.
